UPDATE: Buxtonian dies following Montrose crash
Thirty One Year Old Akeem Lewis of 82 Grover Street Buxton, East Coast Demerara died while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital following an accident Tuesday morning on the Montrose Public Road.
Lewis was the driver of motorcar PAF 9125 which careened into a stationary heavy-duty machinery after the car came into contact with a minibus bearing registration plate BAH 1874.
Police sources indicated that the car heading towards Georgetown at a fast rate, swerved and collided with the back of the minibus after Lewis lost control while negotiating a turn on the road.
This publication was told that the car turned turtle several times after hitting a footpath on the road before careening into the heavy machinery.
Video footage from a nearby building caught when the car flipped into the stationary vehicle.
Lewis suffered multiple injuries as a result of the crash and succumbed to his injuries just after 15:00hrs hours Tuesday afternoon, five hours after the crash.
