US Murder Suspect Arrested in Georgetown
A approximately 16:30 today, law enforcement officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Special Branch Headquarters executed an operation at Lot 3451 Postal Housing Scheme.
During this operation, they apprehended Rakeem Antonio Gilgeous, a 33-year-old U.S. citizen wanted for murder in the United States.
A statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) indicated that upon searching Gilgeous’s residence, authorities discovered his United States passport.
An inspection revealed that Gilgeous had entered Guyana on July 8, 2024, via Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).
Gilgeous was subsequently taken into custody at the Alberttown Police Station. During the arrest, officers found him in possession of $12,000 USD, which has been secured at the station.
