Prison Officer to be charged over prisoner’s escape
A prison officer has been interdicted and will be charged with neglect of duty following the escape of prisoner Mohammed Alli. Alli escaped from the Georgetown Public Hospital sometime between Sunday and Monday.
The prisoner who was at the Timehri lockups serving a sentence was admitted to the public hospital sometime over the weekend after it was alleged he swallowed a “razor blade”.
Mohamed Alli was arrested and charged in 2015 for simple larceny and fraudulent conversion. He had confiscated cell phones from students of Queens College under the guise that he was a detective. He was sentenced to six years for that crime and other similar ones.
Alli remains on the run.
