PME Results Confirm Pesticide Poisoning as CoD for Police Sergeant
A post-mortem examination conducted today, has confirmed that Toney Sulker, the 29-year-old man suspected in the murder of attorney-at-law Richard Layne, died from pesticide poisoning.
The examination was carried out by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehal Singh at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s mortuary.
Sulker’s body was identified by his cousin, Royston Andries, before the autopsy. Dr. Singh determined that the cause of death was due to pesticide poisoning.
Sulker was found in critical condition Friday night by Penelope Lewis, the mother of Richard Layne.
Lewis discovered Sulker lying near the door of the home he shared with Layne, surrounded by vomit and a green substance believed to be poison.
He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he later died.
During a search of the premises, police found two bottles containing a green liquid in Sulker’s car, suspected to be the poison he ingested.
Sulker had been under investigation following the discovery of Layne’s body in his car last Wednesday night.
The investigation into both Layne’s murder and the circumstances surrounding Sulker’s death is ongoing.
