Nine days and counting of suffering for Goed Intent families
Nine Days after high winds blow their roof off and left them and their household appliances and other belongings exposed to the elements, three families from Goed Intent, West Bank Demerara are still left to the mercies of the sun, nigh dew, rainfall, and whatever else.
On Boxing Day of 2022, this publication first reported the disaster that left the three families displaced. When we revisited them on Tuesday, the situation and their condition practically remain the same.
Children are unable to attend school due to damaged school materials, some occupants from all three houses have been sleeping and eating everywhere else except in their own homes, household items continue to be stored in black garbage bags and old vehicles, roofs are covered with tarpaulins and the occupants of the affected homes continue to live in hope that someone or some agency will rush to their rescue.
BIG Smith News Watch today found that except for less water in the buildings, much has not changed. The families are calling on the relevant agencies to urgently render assistance to the and take them out of the suffering as the situation is not healthy and it is also influencing their mental stabilities as watching their belongings suffer slowly but surely destruction is not something easy to endure.
