A 44-year-old businesswoman who Police say was found with an illegal firearm tucked under her belly was on Tuesday remanded to prison.
Arcena Boele of 35 Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where two charges were read to her.
The first charge stated that on July 16, 2021, at Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown, she had in her possession one Taurus .32 revolver when she was not the holder of a firearm licence enforced at the time.
It was further alleged that on the same day and at the same location, she had in her possession two live .32 ammunition when she was not the holder of a firearm licence enforced at the time.
Boele pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that on the day in question, at about 06:30hrs, Police ranks went to the woman’s Castello Housing Scheme home. A search was conducted in the home and nothing illegal was found at the premises.
However, a search was conducted on the woman and the gun with two matching rounds was found “tucked under her belly”. She was then told of the offence committed and arrested.
Boele was remanded to prison until August 11.
