Security guard who stabbed girlfriend 22 times remanded on murder charge

Remanded- Meschack Douglas

Meschack Douglas, who is accused of stabbing his 31-year-old security guard girlfriend to death, was on Tuesday arraigned on a murder charge.

Douglas, 23, appeared before Magistrate Ruschelle Liverpool at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The man, also a security guard, was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on April 26, he murdered Lisa George at their “C” Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown home.

He was remanded to prison until May 29.

George and Douglas were reportedly in a relationship for four months and she had moved into his home with her two children, aged six and 12.

Their relationship was reportedly abusive and Douglas had allegedly threatened to kill his partner after she told him that she no longer wanted to be with him.

According to reports, on the day in question, George was found sitting on a bed in the home with blood oozing from several parts of her body.

Reports are that the now dead woman’s 12-year-old son was awakened to loud screams from his mother and thereafter saw Douglas stabbing her with a knife.

The now-dead woman’s brother-in-law wrestled the weapons from Douglas. A post-mortem examination showed that the woman sustained 22 stab wounds.

Both George and Douglas were employed at Atlas Security.
