A 26-year-old man who is accused of fatally stabbing a handyman during an eviction was on Wednesday charged with murder. Randy Wiggins of ‘D’ Field Reserved Dam, Sophia, Greater Georgetown appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which stated that on February 8, 2020, at C Field Reserve Damn Sophia, he murdered 36-year-old Kevin Smith.
He was remanded to prison until March 24, 2021, by Magistrate Roschelle Liverpool.
According to information, at 18:30hrs Smith was at home when he was attacked by Wiggin who was armed with a knife. It was reported that on the evening of the incident, Smith was attempting to flee from Wiggins who had gone to evict him from his home.
A scuffle ensued and Wiggins dealt the man three stabs. He then made good his escape. The matter was reported and following an investigation, Wiggins was arrested and charged.
