Man charged for stealing bicycle from Police Station

A 45 year old man who according to a police report has no fixed place of abode, was on Thursday charged for stealing a bicycle.

Harrichand Deopaul was arrested after he was seen pushing the bicycle valued $19,000 from the Ruimveldt Police Station. The bicycle was lodged at the station as an exhibit and secured in the compound.

Deochand appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court where he pleaded guilty and was charged with simple larcency.

Deochand was fined $25,000 or will face 3 weeks inprisonment .
