GECOM promises transparent process in hiring new CEO, DCEO, others

The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) will on Friday (October 01, 2021) commence advertising for seven key positions within the Commission including the Chief Elections Officer (CEO) and Deputy Chief Elections Officer (DCEO).

In a statement on Thursday, the elections body promised that the process will be transparent. “The Commission is adamant that the hiring process would be transparent and the process could be completed effectively within the shortest time possible so that the work programme of the agency could proceed,” it noted.

Contracts for former CEO Keith Lowenfield and DCEO Roxane Myers were not renewed in August following the passage of motions tabled by government-nominated Commissioners, Sase Gunraj, Bibi Shadick and Manoj Narayan. The basis for the motions lied in allegations of electoral fraud.

Interested applicants are advised to fully utilize the GECOM’s website at for details pertaining to the respective positions along with the full job descriptions.
