Four-month-old baby dies after being pinned by father’s foot.

A four-month-old baby died on Sunday morning police said as they are investigating how her father may have pinned her during his sleep.

The child has been identified as Kaylee Atkinson, of Annandale, Essequibo Coast. Police said  that based on reports her father Troy Williams returned home  intoxicated, it was during his sleep that he would have pinned the child on the bed.

The mother Tricia Atkinson told police that about 20:10hrs. last night, Troy returned home intoxicated, and fell asleep on the kitchen floor. About 22:25 hrs. the young woman reportedly retired to bed, and was joined by her husband. Tricia said that that about 01:55 hours this morning, she woke to breastfeed Kaylee, when she observed that her husband’s right foot was on the baby’s chest and belly. The teen also told police that she noticed a whitish substance coming out of Kaylee mouth.

After waking her husband, the couple took the motionless baby to the Suddie Public Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is presently at the Suddie Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting post mortem examination.

Police said that no marks of violence were seen on the child’s body, but investigations are in progress.
