62-year-old mechanic dies in accident on Mabura trail

A 62-year-old Mechanic of Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) was on Monday killed in an accident on the #58 Mabura trail after he lost control of the pickup he was driving. The incident occurred at about 14:30h.

Police in a report stated that Randy Lee was driving a motor pick-up #GNN 3286 when allegedly at a fast rate when he swerved from a pothole and lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the pickup toppled several times before turning turtle on the eastern side of the road.

The other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the incident were: Bhisham Hiralall called ‘Ryan’, a 30-years-old auto electrician of #7 Village West Coast Berbice; Bhoodnarine Ramgobin called ‘Mokesh’, a 41-year-old welder of 16th Street Foulis, East Coast Demerara; Conrad Gibson, a 55-year-old gold miner of Friendship East Bank Demerara; and Jailal called ‘Naresh’, a 34-year-old mechanic of Supply Mahaica, ECD.

The driver and occupants of the pickup received injuries about their bodies. Lee, was picked up in an unconscious state, along with the other occupants, by public spirited citizens and transported to the Linden Hospital Complex where Lee was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead on arrival.

His body was then escorted to a nearby funeral parlor, awaiting a post mortem examination.

The other occupants of the pickup were all treated for bruises and sent away.
