23 global companies eyeing investment opportunities in Guyana

– at the opening of the first European Union Economic Mission to Guyana

 

Representative from 23 well known global companies are in Guyana for the European Union Global Gateway Economic Mission to Guyana.

 

At the opening ceremony held at the Georgetown Marriot on Monday, President of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali noted that trades between Guyana and the EU have escalated over the past years as the country’s economy transforms.

 

President Ali highlighted that Guyana’ door for opportunity is open, as there is steady growth and tremendous opportunities in its many sectors.

 

The President has encouraged the delegation to capitalize on the many investment opportunities being offered here in Guyana, which includes healthcare, agriculture, tourism and new technologies.

 

European Union (EU) Ambassador, René van Nes, noted that Guyana is a country of many opportunities and the participating companies represented in this trade mission are eager to capitalise on the prospects.

 

Collectively, he noted that the 23 companies which are representing 10 EU member states has accumulated approximately 400 Billion Euros last year and employ almost 500,000 people.

 

Also in attendance were, Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha, Minister of Health Dr Frank Anthony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hugh Todd, Minister of Finance Dr Ashni Singh, Minister within the Ministry of Public Works Deodat Indar, among other government officials.

 

Some of the companies on the mission include EDF Energy, SIEMENS Energy, Abloy Colombia, SDV ENERGÍA INFRAESTRUCTURA SL, SAMPOL GROUP, BERGEN ENGINES, LAMOR, NOKIA, Blue Water Shipping, etc.
