Money changer and daughter shot dead by bandits

Aaron Latchman a money changer and his daughter Ariana Latchman who is said to be in her teens were this afternoon shot and killed by bandits who pounced on them as they were driving into their Lot 58 Robert Road Better Hope East Coast Demerara Home on Thursday afternoon.
In an interview with Divisional Commander Senior Superintendent Calvin Brutus of the police ‘C’ Division, it was noted that the police received information at approximately 15:40 hours where they were informed of a shooting incident as a result of a robbery.
When the detectives arrived at the scene it was revealed that the daughter and father who had traveled from the city, were reportedly trailed by two men who pounced on them.
A fight ensued between the money changer and the men and shots were discharged resulting in both the man and his daughter being shot multiple times about their bodies. They fell to the ground while the bandits who were both carrying guns, made off with an undisclosed sum of cash.
However as they were leaving the scene cash was seen flying all over as they money began to drop during the escape bid.
One woman who vends nearby and was seen picking up portions of the money was picked up by the police after she was pointed out by eyewitnesses.
One eyewitness who spoke with BIG Smith Crime Watch on the scene related that a resident of the community attempted to scale the fence and go to the aid of the father and daughter but after he saw the gunmen he was forced to retreat. There are also unconfirmed reports that the men were also inside the house.
When we arrived at the scene the police forensic team were already on the ground sweeping the crime scene for clues.
The two victims were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
