Man serving 65 years for rape, found guilty of more rape
FOUND GUILTY Esan Germain
Convicted Thursday afternoon of repeatedly raping an underage girl, 45-year-old Esan Germain, a father of three, has been remanded to prison as he awaits his sentencing which is set for February 28, 2022
Germain is already in jail where he is serving a 65-years jail sentence for raping a girl sometime from 2010 through 2013. Germain was on trial before Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for three counts of rape of a child under 16.
Following deliberations at the Demerara Sexual Offences Court on Thursday, Germain was found guilty by the jury of raping the 15-year-old girl between January and July 2014 in the county of Demerara.
The jurors heard from State Prosecutor Nafeeza Baig that Germain told the girl “I love you” and raped her three times: in the bathroom, another time on a bed with a sleeping two-year-old boy, and on a cupboard.
The girl later confided in her mother who reported the matter to the Police. In his defence, Germain denied raping the girl, stating that she was an “unmannerly child” who was “sent back to Guyana” from the USA.
The convict told the court that the girl was “experimenting with her sexuality” and that he was trying to rehabilitate her by beating her, sending her to church for counselling, and putting strict measures in place. Germain was represented by Attorney-at-Law Clyde Forde.
In 2017, he was found guilty by a jury of sexually abusing a child under the age of 16. He was sentenced to 65 years in prison by Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall who set his parole eligibility at 20 years.
In this case, the charges stated that during 2010, 2012, and 2013, Germain performed oral sex on the girl, and caused her to do the same to him.
Particulars of the other charge stated that he rubbed his penis against her vagina. In that case, it was told that Germain started molesting the child when she was four years old.
