A Partnership for National Unity + Alliance for Change (APNU+AFC) Member of Parliament (MP) and former government minister, Annette Ferguson was on Friday released on self-bail after denying a charge which alleged that she humiliated Omar Khan, a GDF Colonel.
Ferguson who was charged under the Cyber Crime Act appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
She pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on June 15, 2021, she used a computer system to humiliate Khan.
She was represented by attorney-at-law Lyndon Amsterdam.
According to reports, on the day in question, Colonel Khan made a complaint to the Police against Ferguson after she accused him of being part of a killing squad in a post, she made on her Facebook page.
Police contend, that in making the post, she humiliated and embarrassed the senior GDF rank.
Following investigations, Police dispatched a file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions which later advised that Ferguson be charged with the present offence.
