Body of Venezuelan woman found in shallow grave

The body of a Venezuelan woman bearing multiple chop wounds was on Tuesday found in a shallow grave at ‘Cores’ back dam, Eteringbang, Region Seven.

Police said Deissy Antury Perdomo was a clothes vendor at Eteringbang Landing, Cuyuni River, and also did Pork Knocking in the said ‘Cores back dam’ along with two male Venezuelan nationals – and her reputed husband, Vladimir Marquez.

Reports are that Marquez left for Venezuela on April 22, 2022, and returned on Tuesday where he was unable to contact his wife.  He became alarmed and a search party began to search the area.

The body of the woman was found in a four feet wide hole, partly covered with mud and dry leaves. Upon examination, multiple chop wounds were seen about her body, police said.

Police enquiries revealed that the woman was last seen leaving the back dam in the company of the two other men (Venezuelans) heading to the Eteringbang landing where they were seen again together shopping for groceries and imbibing alcohol.

On the same date, Perdomo and the two men were again observed heading in the Back dam towards the direction of their camp.

However, after discovering the remains, the Venezuelan men were not found. Police were told that they left for Venezuela.

The reputed husband is in custody assisting with the investigation.
