Man parks CG Bike then jumps from Demerara Harbour Bridge

A man who is so far unidentified, jumped from the Demerara Harbour Bridge into the Demerara River and is now presumed dead.

Police sources have confirmed sometime between 07:20 and 07:35 a man was seen riding his black CG motorcycle on the bridge.

It was reported to BIG Smith News Watch that the man parked the motrocycle on the bridge and then jumped into the river.

The driver of a car who observed the act, immediately reported it to the Demerara Harbour Bridge security who subsequently, in accordance with protocol, informed the police at Providence.

Police sources have also confirmed to this publication that the motorcycle the individual rode to the Demerara Harbour Bridge, bears registration plate CH 4923.

Checks by this publication found that the motorcycle is registered to one Vellone Thorne of Lot 67 Barr Street, Albouystown, Georgetown.

A search is presently ongoing for the individual and up to press time, there was no reported sighting of a body. The search is being headed by the police marine section.
