Bus driver arrested for putting woman out in the rain

Minibus Driver Lawrence Williams who was arrested by the police on Monday

A minibus driver was on Monday arrested for putting a passenger out of his minibus because she refused to function as his conductor and open the door for other passengers.

The incident took place last week Wednesday on Aurbrey Barker Road in South Ruimveldt after the woman joined the minibus which had no conductor.

Arrested is 53 year old Lawrence Williams of 40 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

Lawrence was at the time driving minibus BAP 2109 on November 17 at approximately 08:30 hrs when the incident took place.

A in a video which hit social media, the driver and a female inside the minibus could be heard and seen on the video arguing with the woman because she refused to pull open the door for other passengers.

The two then ordered the woman out of the bus which she refused but the driver then stopped, walked around to the passengers door of the bus, opened it and ordered the woman to exit which she eventually did.

A report was then made to the police and the driver arrested. He is to appear in court during this week.

According to the road traffic act, once a minibus exceeds 14 persons, there must be a separate to act as a conductor and that person MUST have a conductor’s license.
