Commander of the Police Region 9 Division is said to be among a number of police ranks who are junior, fingered in a cologne and liquor smuggling operation in the division where he commands.
BIG Smith News Watch has been informed that Superintendent King and his ranks were intercepted by enforcement officers from the GRA with the smuggled items.
We were told that the commander and his team traveled from Region 9 with the items and they were intercepted in Region 10 by the Customs Law Enforcement Officers who were acting on information.
In fact, the commander was said to be escorting the smuggled items out of the area to avoid stop and search exercises by members of the Guyana Police Force but he did not cater for GRA officers.
BIG Smith News Watch was further told that the GRA received information of ‘smuggling activities’ and when they put their posture in place to make the interception, the police commander was among those held.
It is unclear if at the time of the bust, the commander was slated to be out of his division.
Efforts to make contact with the senior officers at Eve Leary in relation to the matter were futile.
