GONE FOR GOOD: SENT HOME FIRE CHIEF KALAMADEEN EDOO AT LEFT WITH HOME AFFAIRS MINISTER ROBESON BENN
Fire Chief Kalamadeen Edoo has been sent home for the second time in five month but this time, he is gone for good.
Edoo has been fingered in a number of practices as Chief Fire Officer all of which have reportedly played on the moral of the Guyana Fire Service and its ranks.
Earlier today, Thursday, BIG Smith News Watch broke the story that Edoo as Fire Chief begged a supplier to the Fire Department to ship him a windscreen for his duty free X-Trail vehicle.
Edoo who is officially required to retire from the Guyana Fire Service in June of this year, was sent home today on his pre-retirement leave. We were told that he has in excess of one hundred days accumulated leave.
Sometime last year, Edoo had indicated to the political powers that he wished to have an extension of his service as Chief Fire Officer but that request was not granted.
Edoo according to documents since becoming Fire Chief acting, changed several systems and procedures at the Fire Service, some of which have been in place for decades and were meant to ensure accountability for the Fire Department’s monies.
Edoo reportedly instructed that persons who are paying for safety certificates and petroleum licenses make payments directly to his office.
As Fire Chief, Kalamadeen Edoo has managed three major city fires in what has been described as the most disastrous manner. Those are the Sharon Mall Fire, The Sheriff Street Fire, The North Multilateral School Fire, The Brickdam Police Station Fire and the DPP Office Complex Fire.
While Edoo fainted at one of the fire scenes, he failed to properly command ranks at the scenes of the other two fires.
