Body found on Cornelia Ida foreshore still unidentified
The body of a man found on the Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara (WCD) foreshore is not that of 34-year-old Afraz Husain called ‘Buck man’ as was previously suspected by his family and so far remains unidentified.
The Police Public Relations Department has indicated that upto Thursday midday, no one has come forward to claim the body which washed up onshore last Saturday.
Husain’s family of Metem-Meer- Zorg West suspected that the body may have been his since he left to work at sea on April 13, 2021 and was not heard from since.
When contacted, the owner of the boat on which Husain is employed, Richard (only name given) stated that the family visited the parlour but did not find two the tattoos on the victim’s hand to match that of their relative. In addition, a check was made for an odd tooth which was not found.
The man’s wife, Bibi Shazeena Jaggernath had contacted BIG Smith Crime Watch News in a state of despair after she was told the body was that of her 34-year-old husband.
She became more worried when the boat owner did not make an attempt to locate his crew.
Richard said his vessel is expected back this weekend on which Husain is working and is alive and well.
