21 Year Old mechanic busted with cocaine pellets in hotel room
On Saturday morning at approximately 08:45 hours, a party of policemen from the Narcotics Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters in Georgetown along with their counterparts in ‘C’ Division on the East Coast Demerara, swooped on the Alpha Hotel at Ogle where they conducted an operation.
BIG Smith Crime Watch was told that the intelligence led operation found that 21 year old Ackeem Dundas, a mechanic of 120 Area ‘G’ Strathspey Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara who was occupying room number 209 at the hotel, had in his possession a number of pellets suspected to be filled with cocaine.
The pellets were confiscated and counted in his presence before he was told of an allegation of being in possession of suspected cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The young man was then arrested and escorted to the Criminal Investigation Department where the items were tested and weighed and found to indeed be cocaine filled pellets.
This is not the first time that the Alpha Hotel has been used by persons to carry out their illegal activities.
In 2016 one man was killed and three arrested after the police received information that the four where inside the hotel with a large cache of guns and drugs.
When the police arrived at the location they came under fire and in returning fire, fatally shot and killed a 51 year old suspect from South Ruimveldt while the other three suspects were arrested.
In that case, the hotel staff became aware that something was amiss with the amount of men entering the one hotel room and they telephoned the police.
