$1.3M Bail For Man Found With Guns, Ammo and Narcotics
Edinho Lewis, a 37-year-old unemployed man, was granted bail totalling $1,350,000 after being charged with multiple counts of possession of firearms, ammunition, and narcotics.
After his client was originally remanded to prison at his arraignment last month, Lewis’s attorney, Bernard Da Silva, renewed his bail application during a court appearance on Friday.
Lewis faced two narcotics charges and three charges for possession of firearms and ammunition.
The defendant has denied the charges.
Principal Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty presided over the case and granted bail for the narcotics charges at $300,000 each. For the three firearms and ammunition charges, bail was set at $250,000 each, bringing the total bail amount to $1,350,000.
The case has been adjourned to August 9, 2024, for further reporting and fixture.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred at approximately 12:30 PM on June 8, 2024, when police, acting on information, conducted a search at Lewis’s residence located at Lot 126 Da Silva Street, Kitty, Georgetown. The search revealed a significant cache of weapons and narcotics.
According to the police report, officers discovered one AK-47 rifle, one Glock 26 pistol, 830 live 7.62 ammunition, four live .223 ammunition, nine live 9mm ammunition, two live .32 ammunition, three AR-15 magazines, one AK-47 magazine, three Glock magazines, one scale used in weighing narcotics, one gun silencer, a quantity of ecstasy, 107 grams of cocaine, and 544.3 grams of cannabis.
Lewis was promptly informed of the offenses, arrested, and cautioned. A team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters processed all the items found at the scene.
